WOW! I just returned from a wonderful 8 days in sunny Florida. 4 days were devoted to our CP Convention which was filled with so much training and exciting news that my head is still spinning.
This trip I took my Mom and children. I planned our trip to include time before and after Convention to enjoy Walt Disneyworld. The weather was so good - only problem - the "love bugs" were beginning their attack of the parks. Seems twice each year, Orlando is bombarded with these pesky little creatures. Apparently they arrive just prior to Memorial Day weekend and again just after Labor Day in September. We've had the mis-pleasure to be there both times. September of 2006 was a pretty bad time for them. The swimming pool area at Coronado Springs Hotel was engulfed with them. We set our nice white towels on the pool chairs only to return a short time later to solid black bugs.
This trip wasn't so bad - I think they were just arriving for their semi-annual vacation!
We stayed at the All-Star Sports Hotel on Disney property this trip. This is a value resort - located close to Animal Kingdom Park. Great staff - nice rooms - the towels were a little "scanty". If you have plans to stay at this resort and suffer with dry skin - be sure to bring along hand/body lotion - there isn't any in the rooms. Also - hair dryers are available on request and coffee pots are NOT in the rooms. We were blessed to be fairly close to the Food Court so the walk wasn't bad for my morning coffee.
I definitely recommend purchasing the resort mug (priced at $11.99 during our stay) if you are a coffee/tea/soda drinker. Well worth the money.
Another great thing about staying at the All-Star Sports is - you're first on the bus! The buses start at the Sports then head over to the Music followed by the Movies Resort. Needless to say - by the time we usually reached the Movies it was standing room only. You're also first to be dropped off when returning from the parks which after a long day is a nice thing.
